After a long day on the water sometimes the thought of winching in your trailer boat is the last thing you feel like doing. With the heat of the summer sun on your back heading home effortlessly to show off your catch of the day or for a beer and a barbeque is much more appealing. This is when the idea of the SEA SOCKET was born.

One evening as Paul Butterfield (Founder of Sea Design Ltd.) was manually winching in his boat as he began to consider easier ways of getting his boat out of the water. After looking at expensive electric winches Paul thought there must be a better solution. As a builder, Paul always had a battery drill on hand which got him thinking, all that was needed to make an affordable electric winch that was suited to almost any boat and trailer combo was a drill bit designed to lock onto a winch once the handle has been removed.

After a number of prototypes and tests with boats of all sizes and weights the SEA SOCKET was perfected, due to its quality hardened steel construction and heavy weight design the SEA SOCKET is made to last, Paul can even get his wife and daughters winching in the boat!
